In 1967, Robert Clyde Moore had the idea to create a collection of the best two-move chess problems by the top ten problemists in the United States. In 1986, McFarland published Moore's book, entitled Two-Move Chess Problems. Once the top problemists were selected, Moore kept up a correspondence with them about their problems.
